MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University women's tennis team lost by a 5-2 count to Moravian University in a Landmark Conference tilt on Senior Day at the Drew Tennis Complex Wednesday afternoon.
Prior to the start of the match, the Rangers recognized seniors
Mary Kalorin and
Elise Parisi along with graduate student
Sophie Weaver.
The Greyhounds (15-3, 8-0 LC) clinched the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Landmark Conference Championship with the win. They opened the match by winning first and third doubles to clinch the doubles point. Sophomore
Riley Roesel and junior
Jada Worthem captured a 7-5 victory at No. 2 for the Rangers.
Moravian went on to win at sixth, first, and third singles to clinch the match. Sophomore
Danielle Pettoni won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 4 to capture Drew's first point before Weaver claimed a well-earned 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 victory at No. 2.
The Rangers (10-8, 6-2 LC) close out their regular season on Thursday, when they visit the University of Scranton at 4 p.m. in another Landmark Conference affair.
