ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Drew University baseball team piled up 12 hits over seven innings but host Elizabethtown College rallied from an early five-run deficit for a 21-11, seven-inning victory in a Landmark Conference series finale on Sunday.
Â
Drew led 5-0 and 6-3 in the early going, only to see the Blue Jays score nine unanswered runs from the third through the fifth to open up an 11-6 lead.
Â
The Rangers twice pulled to within three runs, the last time coming on a three-run homer from senior
Mike Gallaro in the seventh that made it 14-11, but Etown ended the game with seven runs in the bottom half of the inning to bring the 10-run rule into effect.
Â
Senior
Anthony Diaz Jr. went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored, and his second run was his 47th of the season, tying the school record set by Michael Bodden in 2010 and 2012 and Steve MacKinnon in 1998.
Â
Gallaro finished 2-for-4 with a double, a homer, and four RBIs while freshman
Anthony Vallaro was 2-for-3 with three runs. Senior
Dallas Lorenzetti added a 2-for-2 day at the plate while freshman
Zach Maxwell collected three RBIs.
Â
Drew closes out the regular season with five home games, starting with a non-conference tilt with Marywood University on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
