MADISON, N.J. – Senior
Kenny Yonker tossed seven innings of one-run ball while classmate
Anthony Diaz Jr. broke the school record for runs in a season, leading the Drew University baseball team to a 6-5 non-conference victory over Marywood University Tuesday afternoon at Doc Young Field at Lonnstrom Stadium.
Â
Yonker (2-3) scattered seven hits and carried a shutout into the seventh inning. He walked just two and struck out three while tying the longest outing of his career.

Raiden Yost went 2-for-3 with two runs scored for the Rangers (18-18) while classmate
Mike Gallaro finished 2-for-3 as well in Drew's first meeting with Marywood since 1998.
Â
Diaz entered the game tied with two others for the school's runs record and took sole possession of the mark in dramatic fashion. After drawing a leadoff walk in the seventh, he moved to third on a single from Yost. Senior
Will Fritch then popped up to the catcher in foul territory on the first-base side, but when home plate was left uncovered Diaz sprinted home and slid in just ahead of the tag of the diving catcher.
Â
Marywood starter Noah Trager did not allow a hit until freshman
Zach Maxwell drilled a fourth-inning single to put runners on the corners in a scoreless game. Gallaro followed up with an RBI-single up the middle to put the Rangers on the scoreboard.
Â
The score remained 1-0 going into the sixth inning before Drew opened up some breathing room with a four-spot. Maxwell pushed across a run with a sacrifice fly before fifth-year
Anthony Hernandez drilled a two-run double. Freshman
Anthony Vallaro capped the inning with an RBI-double of his own to make it 5-0.
Â
The Pacers (14-20) finally broke through in the seventh with a single run on two hits. But Yonker escaped further damage, first by picking a man off third with runners on the corners for the second out of the inning. Then, ater a hit batsman put runners on first and second, Yonker induced an inning-ending groundout.
Â
Diaz' run gave Drew a comfortable 6-1 lead but it proved to be the difference, as Marywood scored four late runs on a pair of two-run homers in the eighth and ninth.
Â
The Rangers continue their five-home homestand to end the regular season when they host the City College of New York on Wednesday in another non-conference affair starting at 3:30 p.m.
