MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University men's lacrosse team saw its outstanding 2025 season come to a close with a 13-7 loss to Susquehanna University in the opening round of the Landmark Conference Championship tournament Tuesday evening in Ranger Stadium.
The No. 3-seeded Rangers trailed just 8-5 heading into the fourth quarter, but the sixth-seeded River Hawks closed the game on a 5-2 run.
Drew, which was playing its first postseason home game in 13 years, conclude the year with a 10-7 record after finishing 10-8 a year ago, marking the first time since 1998 through 2000 that the team recorded double-digit victories in consecutive season. The team also finished 6-3 in Landmark Conference play, marking the most Landmark victories in team history and the highest conference victory total since the 2007 squad went 7-3 in Middle Atlantic Conference play.

Mike DeMayo paced the Rangers with two goals and three assists while graduate student
Tommy Larmore and junior
Riley Zeer scored two goals apiece. Freshman
Jake Rainero finished 15-for-22 on faceoff with nine ground balls, and sophomore
Joe Barnish turned aside 14 shots in goal. In addition, sophomore
Dalton Gogola and junior
Theo Krueger added four ground balls and three caused turnovers apiece.
Chris Ciccarello posted three goals and two assists for Susquehanna (13-5), which will visit No. 2 seed Elizabethtown College in the semifinals on Thursday.
It was a defensive battle in the early going, with neither side scoring until DeMayo blasted in a shot to put his side up 1-0. Later in the quarter, DeMayo fed Zeer to make it a 2-1 game after one period of play.
The two sides continued to trade blows early in the second quarter, as Susquehanna tied it with 11:31 showing before DeMayo finished off a dish from freshman
Nick Carabetta to put the Rangers up 3-2 with 8:02 on the clock.
Susquehanna responded with a 6-0 run that made it spanning the second and third quarters to go up 8-3. The River Hawks scored the last four goals of the second quarter to assume a 7-3 halftime advantage before opening the third quarter with another tally.

Tommy Larmore struck with 3:46 left in the period to make it an 8-5 game after three periods of play.
Susquehanna netted the first two goals of the fourth quarter to push its lead back to five before
Tommy Larmore scored again on a power play for the Rangers, making it 10-6 with 5:51 remaining. But the River Hawks were able to milk the shot clock on several possessions down the stretch before striking with a big goal at the 1:50 mark that put the deficit back at five.
Zeer scored again with 1:34 remaining but it would be the Rangers' final tally of the game, and Susquehanna set the final score with two goals inside the final minute.
