Women’s Lacrosse Downs Wilkes in Landmark Conference Play

MADISON, N.J. – Eleven different Rangers scored a goal and the Drew University women's lacrosse team defeated Wilkes University 22-3 Wednesday evening in Ranger Stadium for its first Landmark Conference victory of the season.
 
Junior Emily Monaco posted a big all-around game for the Rangers, racking up three goals, one assist, six draw controls, four caused turnovers, and four ground balls. Freshman Kristina Lowe added three goals, one assist, seven draw controls, and five caused turnovers; junior Emma Gallaro contributed three goals and one assist; and junior Aubrey Welch pitched in with three goals and five draw controls.
 
Three additional Rangers scored multiple goals, including sophomore Grace Patane and freshman Hayden Scotti, who registered two goals and two assists apiece. First-year Isabella Fortunato added two goals, one assist, and five draw controls.
 
Sophomore Paige Shaw started in goal for the Rangers and played the opening quarter before freshman Rorrie Sifers came on to play the last three periods, turning aside two shots.
 
The Rangers blitzed to a 13-0 first-quarter lead, with Gallaro striking for all three of her tallies in the opening period. Scotti, Patane, and Welch struck for two goals each in the stanza.
 
Drew made it a 14-0 run to start the game when sophomore Brooke Carlisle scored early in the second quarter. The Colonels snapped the shutout when they scored with 2:42 remaining in the first half.
 
The Rangers went on to outscore Wilkes 4-1 in both the third and fourth quarters. Lowe struck for two goals in the third quarter while Fortunato cashed in twice in the final period.
 
Drew returns home on Saturday, when it hosts Elizabethtown College at 1 p.m. in another Landmark Conference affair.
