CHESTER, Pa. – The Drew University field hockey team was handed its first loss of the season on Saturday, as host Widener University captured a 6-1 decision in a non-conference matchup.
Karly Bervinchak scored four goals for the Pride (3-2) while Arwen Fithian made eight saves for without allowing a goal in 54 minutes between the pipes.

Bella Fini scored the lone goal for the Rangers (4-1), striking with 1:57 left in the game.
Bervinchak scored the game's first three goals as the Pride jumped to a 4-0 halftime lead. Drew held a 13-8 shot advantage in the half, but Fithian turned aside six shots over the opening 30 minutes.
In the third quarter, the Rangers blanked Widener until Bervinchak potted her fourth goal, striking with 3:27 on the clock. The hosts recorded their final tally with 8:31 remaining in the game before Fini broke up the shutout with her fifth goal of the season.

The Rangers are back in action on Wednesday, when they visit Eastern University in a non-conference tilt starting at 4 p.m.
