MADISON, N.J. – Senior
Aimee Barsa scored on a header in the 33rd minute and the Drew University women's soccer team played Stevens Institute of Technology to a 1-1 tie Tuesday evening in a non-conference affair in Ranger Stadium.
It was the first career goal for Barsa, who finished off looping corner kick from sophomore
Kristina Lowe.
Stevens (2-2-6) tied it with a breakaway goal in the 65th minute, but the Rangers (4-3-2) threatened late and took three shots down the stretch, including a header from freshman
Olivia Klein that sailed just wide right in the final minute.
The Ducks finished with a 18-10 shot advantage, but only five of their shots were on goal.
Sophomore
Dani Iannelli played the first half in goal and made three saves before junior
Sarah Crowley stopped a pair of shots in the second period.
The Rangers had a number of good looks early, including a rip from senior
Kayla Kuncken on a free kick just outside the box that was hauled in by the goalie. Junior
Maeve O'Murchu found herself on a breakaway in the 32nd minute and fired a shot from the left wing that just missed the lower left corner.
Iannelli made all three of her saves after Barsa's goal, including an impressive stop on a blast from point-blank range in the 44th minute. The shot was rebounded into the net but the goal was waved off due to an offsides call.
The Rangers resume their Landmark Conference schedule on Saturday, when they visit Lycoming College at 1 p.m.
