ASTON, Pa. – Three different Rangers scored a goal while junior
Beth Kelly made six saves as the Drew University field hockey team posted its first shutout of the season with a 3-0 non-conference victory at Neumann University on Saturday.
Drew (3-0) outshot Neumann 22-16 and held a 15-8 advantage in corners.
After a scoreless opening quarter, sophomore
Emily Caporrino gave the Rangers all of the offense they would need when she drilled in an unassisted tally with 7:12 left in the first half for her team-leading third goal of the season.
Just under four minutes into the second quarter, junior defender
Liriana Seferovic scored off an assist from junior
Chandler Straub to make it a 2-0 game with her second goal of the year. Freshman defenderwet the final score when she converted a penalty stroke for her first collegiate goal.
Kelly recorded three of her stops in the third quarter, when she faced seven shots from the Knights, and finished with her third career clean sheet.
Drew returns to action on Wednesday, when it takes on William Paterson University in a non-conference tilt and the teams' home opener starting at 4 p.m.
