HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Drew University men's swimming & diving team won six events but lost by a final of 141-121 at Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday.
Senior
Brendan Burkett led the Rangers with victories in both the 200-freestyle (1:49.30) and the 200-backstroke (1:59.86).
Adding one individual victory apiece were junior
Liam Gregory in the 1650-freestyle (17:09.10), freshman
Marcell Hudak in the 200-butterfly (1:56.47), and junior
Nicholas Heinio-Widell in the 100-butterfly (52.47). Additionally, Burkett, freshman
Eric Friday, sophomore
Thiago Silva, and Heinio-Widell captured the 400-freestyle relay in 3:14.09.
Drew also placed second in eight different events, and junior
Kyle Talerico took runner-up honors in both the 100-butterfly (53.24) and the 200-butterfly (1:58.07). Also taking second were junior
Nick Shaffer in the 100-backstroke (57.33), Heinio-Widell in the 50-freestyle (21.75), Silva in the 100-freestyle (50.10), senior
Gabe Spivak in the 200-breaststroke (2:13.68), Gregory in the 500-freestyle (5:02.73), and Hudak in the 400-IM (4:20.31).
Drew returns to action next Saturday, when it hosts the University of Scranton at 1 p.m. on Senior Day in the team's final dual meet of the season.
