MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University women's swimming & diving team won eight events, but the University of Scranton captured a 179-111 decision over the Rangers on Senior Day at F.M. Kirby Pool on Saturday.
Drew's four seniors –
Ece Onatca,
Chandler Straub,
Sarah Weber, and
Kaitlyn Zayle – were recognized in a ceremony prior to the start of the meet.
Winning two events each were sophomore
Kyra Gorman in the 100-freestyle (53.66) and the 200-freestyle (1:57.08); Onatca in the 100-backstroke (59.37) and the 200-backstroke (2:08.16); and Weber in the 100-breaststroke (1:09.79) and the 200-breaststroke (2:31.27).
Drew also swept the relays. Sophomore
Ellis Murray, Weber, Onatca, and Gorman captured the 200-medley while Onatca, freshman
Molly Loughlin, Gorman, and Zayle touched first in the 200-freestyle (1:40.70).
Zayle added a runner-up finish in the 50-freestyle (26.28), as did freshman
Adriana Scanga in the 200-butterfly (2:18.11).
The Rangers will now gear up for the Landmark Conference Championships, to be held Feb. 12-15 at Loyola University's Mangione Aquatic Center in Baltimore.
