SCRANTON, Pa. – The Drew University women's basketball team lost by a final of 76-35 at No. 2-ranked and undefeated University of Scranton on Wednesday evening.
Senior guard
Maddie Beyer scored eight points for the Rangers (11-7, 6-5 LC) while junior guard
Olivia Aliotta posted seven points, six rebounds, and four assists.
Katie Gorski netted 19 points to lead the Royals (18-0, 11-0 LC) while Elizabeth Bennett scored 18 points off the bench.
Beyer scored Drew's first five points, including a 3-pointer that cut Scranton's lead to 5-4 just over four minutes into the contest.
The Royals led just 10-9 with 3:04 to go before using an 11-0 run spanning the first two quarters to go up by 12 with 8:45 left in the opening half. A 10-2 surge later in the quarter pushed Scranton's advantage to 21, and the hosts took a 40-20 advantage into the locker room. Scranton went on to outscore the Rangers 36-15 in the second half.
Drew picks up its schedule on Saturday, when it visits Lycoming College at 4 p.m. in another Landmark Conference showdown.
