Women’s Volleyball Earns First Landmark Conference Win to Open Tri-Match

MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University women's volleyball team captured its first Landmark Conference victory of the season with a 3-0 victory over Wilkes University to kick off a tri-match in Baldwin Gym on Saturday.
 
The Rangers won by scores of 19-25, 25-16, 25-23, 22-25, 15-12 versus Wilkes.
 
Drew closed the day with a 3-0 loss to Stevens Institute, 25-18, 25-15, 25-16.
 
It was a block party versus Wilkes, as the Rangers totaled 14 rejections – just one shy of the school record. Individually, junior Melissa Zack paced Drew with eight blocks while freshman Jessica Donnelly (seven) and senior Meghan Pullen (six) also contributed heavily to Drew's defensive effort. Junior Aidyn Stone added 19 digs for the Rangers.
 
Drew also received 14 kills and nine digs from junior Lindsey Millis, 13 kills from senior Victoria Latino,10 kills and seven digs from Donnelly, and nine kills and four blocks from freshman Aaliyah Anderson. Senior Alyssa Rachwal posted 25 assists, eight digs, and three aces while freshman Hailey Kenefick handed out 21 assists.
 
Mia Leon racked up 24 kills and 19 digs for the Colonels (10-7, 0-2 LC).
 
Drew jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the fifth set and never surrendered the lead. A kill from Millis made it 13-10, and Latino scored Drew's final two points on a pair of kills.
 
Against Stevens (13-2), which received votes in the latest AVCA Division III Top-25 poll, Latino led the way with 11 kills and just one error on 22 swings for a .455 hitting performance. Millis posted kills and six digs while Rachwal distributed nine assists. Stone picked up another nine digs.
 
Drew continues its season on Friday, when it visits No. 5-ranked Juniata College at 6 p.m. in a Landmark Conference affair.
