MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University men's volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep of Neumann University in a non-conference matchup Thursday evening in Baldwin Gym.
The Rangers (8-5) won by scores of 25-13, 25-11, and 25-18.
It was a team effort for Drew, which had 14 different players enter the match. Freshman
Lucas Mondin posted eight kills over two sets while sophomore
Gio Martin registered seven kills and a pair of blocks. Sophomore
Nathaniel Fisbeck recorded six kills and seven digs, and sophomore
Jayden Huber distributed 14 assists. Sophomore
Michael Shipman contributed four kills, seven digs, and three blocks, and classmate
Gavin Cantada scooped six digs.
The Rangers took control early in each of the first two sets, starting the match on a 7-1 run before gradually pulling away. In the second set, Drew used an early 6-0 spurt and closed the period on a 10-1 burst.
The final set was close in the early going, and the Rangers led just 14-13 before ending the match on an 11-5 run.
Drew returns to action with a home tri-match on Sunday. The Rangers take on New Jersey City University at 11 a.m. and Arcadia University at 3 p.m.
