MADISON, N.J. – Junior
Grace Patane scored her 100th career point, but the Drew University women's lacrosse team lost by a 16-9 count to Vassar College in its home opener Saturday afternoon in Ranger Stadium.

Patane reached her milestone with a goal at the 11:03 mark of the fourth quarter. She became the second Ranger in as many games to hit the century mark, as senior
Aubrey Welch achieved the feat in the team's season opener this past Wednesday.

Junior
Madi Strong posted three goals and four ground balls for the Rangers (1-1) while sophomore
Hayden Scotti contributed two goals and one assist. Senior
Emma Gallaro added a pair of goals, and senior
Emily Monaco picked up five ground balls. Freshman
Gianna Paz contributed four ground balls while sophomore
Zoey Pipher recorded four draw controls. Sophomore
Kristina Lowe notched three caused turnovers.

Paige Shaw started for Drew and made nine saves over the first three quarters before freshman
Annie Durante stopped one shot in the final period.

Tess Billings led the Brewers (1-0) with four goals while Emilia DiLiberto registered three goals, one assist, and 11 draw controls.

Vassar never trailed, but the Rangers tied the game twice in the first quarter on goals from Scotti and Strong and it was a 2-2 game after 15 minutes of play.

The Brewers opened the second period on a 3-0 spurt, but the Rangers narrowed the gap to one with tallies from Scotti and freshman
Regina Williams. The two sides then traded goals, and Strong netted the final marker of the half with 1:41 on the clock to make it a 6-5 game at the intermission.

The visitors broke open the game in the second half, when they outscored Drew 10-3, starting with four unanswered goals to open the third quarter. Gallaro scored the final goal of the stanza to make it a 10-6 game heading into the final period, but that's when Vassar put the game away with a 5-0 run to begin the quarter. The Rangers set the final score with goals from Gallaro and Strong.

Drew returns to action on Wednesday, when it hosts Ramapo College at 7 p.m. in a non-conference outing.
