TOWSON, Md. – A 15-0 run early in the second half helped boost the Drew University men's basketball team to a 99-69 Landmark Conference victory at Goucher College Saturday afternoon.
Â
The decisive stretch upped a six-point lead to a commanding 21-point advantage for the Rangers (16-4, 10-4 LC), who are now tied with the University of Scranton for second place in the Landmark Conference standings with four games left in the regular season.
Â
Junior guard
Charlie Thornton tied his season-high with 20 points while shooting 4-for-11 from 3-point range for Drew, which forced Goucher into 21 turnovers that were converted into 34 points.
Â
Four additional Rangers scored in double figures, including senior forward
David Musial who, playing in his 100th career game, posted his fifth double-double of the season with 11 points and 12 rebounds to go with four steals. Junior guard
Eli Yusavage contributed 12 points, a career-high eight rebounds, and five assists while sophomore guard

Devon Musial chipped in with nine points.
Â
Liech Kong notched 17 points and seven rebounds for the Gophers (4-17, 1-13 LC).
Â
The first half featured three ties and four lead changes, but the Rangers went ahead to stay after senior forward
Kevin Cronin converted an and-1 that made it 36-33 with 2:58 on the clock. Thornton knocked down his second 3-pointer of the game that gave Drew its largest lead of the half (42-35) with 1:28 showing, and
David Musial dropped in a bucket with 15 seconds left that gave the Rangers a 44-39 lead at the intermission.
Â
Goucher trailed just 49-43 after Langston Davis split a trip to the foul line with 17:15 remaining before Drew embarked on its decisive run, which was largely fueled by some torrid outside shooting. Thornton and Herasme kicked off the surge with consecutive 3-pointers before
Devon Musial knocked down consecutive treys. Herasme followed up with a pair of free throws before Manns hit 1-of-2 at the stripe, making it 64-43 with 13:59 remaining.
Â
The Gophers were unable to mount a comeback down the stretch, and the Rangers settled any doubt with a 13-1 run that made it a 34-point game with 5:47 to go.
Â
Drew closes out its four-game road trip on Wednesday, when it visits Wilkes University at 7 p.m. in another Landmark Conference affair.
