MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Baruch College in a non-conference matchup on Friday in the Simon Forum.
The Rangers received a big win from junior
Daniel Arcari at No. 1 singles. Typically Drew's No. 2 singles competitor, Arcari rallied for a 4-6, 6-2, 11-9 victory in his first match at the No. 1 spot this season and the second appearance of his career at the top of the lineup.
Baruch (3-0) opened he match by sweeping the three doubles contests to capture the doubles point. Junior
Ty Gelijns and senior
Shivi Perera were edged 6-4 at No. 2 doubles, as junior
Nicolas Mobayed and senior
Devan Sutaria lost by the same score at No. 3.
The Bearcats also won at second through sixth singles. Besides Arcari, Mobayed won the most games for the Rangers (6-4, 6-2).
Drew continues its season next Friday, when it visits Ursinus College in a non-conference match starting at 2:30 p.m.
