COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Senior
Jesse Faro won at No. 1 singles, but the Drew University men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 non-conference decision at Ursinus College on Friday.
Faro prevailed 7-5, 7-5 to lead the Rangers (3-5).
At No. 4 singles, junior
Nicolas Mobayed won his opening set 6-0, but the Bears' Russell Nour rallied to win 6-2 and 6-1 in the second and third sets, improving to 5-2 on the season.
Junior
Daniel Arcari also found himself in a close match at No. 2 singles, but lost by a count of 7-5 and 6-4 versus Deniz Finkel, who also pushed his record to 5-2.
In doubles play, Drew's closest match was at the No. 3 spot, where senior
Kevin Cronin and junior
Ty Gelijns were edged 6-4.
The Rangers open Landmark Conference play on Saturday, when they visit Lycoming College at 1 p.m.
