Women’s Tennis Edged at Ursinus

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Drew University women's tennis team led Ursinus College 3-2, but the host Bears won the final two singles matches to clinch a 4-3 non-conference victory on Friday.

Sophomore Madison Williams and senior Natalia Zamora won in both singles and doubles play for the Rangers.

Ursinus took a 1-0 lead after capturing the doubles point, as the Bears won at both Nos. 2-3 doubles. Williams and Zamora recorded a 6-4 victory at the No. 1 spot.

The Bears went up 2-0 after a victory at No. 3 singles, but that's when the Rangers recorded three consecutive victories to go up 3-2. Junior Riley Roesel kicked off the stretch with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles before Williams tied it up with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 4. Zamora put Drew on top with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph at the second singles. But Ursinus rallied with a victory at No. 6 singles before winning the match with a three-set victory at the No. 5 spot.

The Rangers open Landmark Conference play on Saturday, when they visit Lycoming College at 1 p.m.
