MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University women's volleyball team opened Landmark Conference play with a 20-2 victory over Lycoming College on Saturday in Ranger Stadium.
Freshman
Regina Williams posted seven goals, two assists, and four ground balls to lead the Rangers (5-2, 1-0 LC), who scored seven unanswered goals to start the game.
Junior
Madi Strong added three goals and three assists for Drew while senior
Aubrey Welch contributed three goals, one assist, and nine draw controls. She also reached 200th career draw control, making her just the third Ranger in team history to achieve the milestone.
Sophomore
Kristina Lowe recorded three goals, one assist, four ground balls, and four draw controls for the Rangers while senior
Emma Gallaro also tossed in three goals. Senior
Emily Monaco added three caused turnovers.
Junior
Paige Shaw started in goal and played the opening half while making a pair of saves for Drew before sophomore
Rorrie Sifers played the second half.
Riley Block scored four goals to lead the Warriors (3-5, 0-1 LC).
Williams scored three of her goals in the first quarter as the Rangers bolted out to a 6-0 lead. Junior
Grace Patane added another tally 22 seconds into the second period before Lycoming snapped the run on Block's first goal two minutes later.
Drew ended the half on a 4-0 run to assume an 11-1 halftime lead before settling any doubt in the third quarter, when it outscored the Warriors 6-2. Strong scored three of her goals in the third period.
The Rangers continue their five-day, three-game homestretch on Monday, when they host Ramapo College in a non-conference makeup game starting at 4 p.m.
