AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Drew University baseball team opened its spring break trip to Florida with a split versus Bethany College on Sunday.

The Rangers (3-2) lost the opener 6-5 before plating four runs in the top of the seventh in a 4-1 victory in the second game.

In the opener, Drew trailed 4-0 after two and a half innings before coming back to tie it, scoring once in the third, twice in the fifth, and once again in the sixth to make it 4-4.

Bethany went up 6-4 with two runs in the top of the seventh, but the Rangers rallied in the bottom half. Freshman
Nick Donofrio walked leading off and eventually scored, and Drew had the tying run on the third when the Bison struck out the game's final batter.

Senior
Nick Bisaccia and sophomore
Anthony Vallaro each doubled for the Rangers in the opener.

On the mound, junior
Tyler Bell started and give up four runs on six hits while striking out four in a no-decision before classmate
Aidan Bauer fired a pair of scoreless innings while striking out two. Â Freshman
Jordan Delude came on in the sixth and threw 1 1/3 innings and was charged with the loss after yielding two runs on two hits while fanning two. Senior
Brandon Kobryn tossed the final 2/3 of an inning.

In the second game, freshman
Nicholas Lo Vacco was in command, allowing just one run on five hits and a pair of walks while striking out five over five innings pitched. He left the game with the Rangers trailing 1-0, and that's how the scoreboard read after six innings.

Drew broke through with all four of its runs in the seventh. Freshman
Matteo Gruendig led off with a single, and came all the way around to score on a bunt and an error, tying the game at 1-1. Donofrio then drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly before Vallaro doubled in another run to push the lead to 3-1. Junior
Tyler Giordano kept the inning going with a single, and Bethany eventually balked home the final run.

Graham Ross came on to fire a pair of scoreless innings for Drew to earn the win in relief. He did not allow a hit, walked one, and struck out four.
The Rangers continue their trip on Monday, when they face Roger Williams University in a single game at 10:30 a.m.
