Fast Start Sends Susquehanna Past Women’s Lax on Senior Day

MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University women's lacrosse team outscored Susquehanna University in the second half, but it wasn't enough to overcome a fast start from the River Hawks, who earned a 12-7 Landmark Conference victory Saturday afternoon in Ranger Stadium.

Prior to the start of the game, Drew honored its three seniors – Emma Gallaro, Emily Monaco, and Aubrey Welch.

Susquehanna (9-6, 5-1 LC) raced to a 9-2 halftime lead after scoring four goals in the first quarter and five in the second period. The two sides scored one goal apiece in the third quarter before the Rangers outscored the River Hawks 4-2 in the fourth quarter.

Junior Grace Patane finished with two goals and one assist for the Rangers (8-5, 3-3 LC) while junior Madi Strong and freshman Regina Williams also scored two goals each. Sophomore Zoey Pipher posted five draw controls while Monaco recorded five ground balls and four caused turnovers.

Junior Paige Shaw started in goal for Drew and recorded four saves in the first half before sophomore Rorrie Sifers played the second and also stopped four shots.

Abby Andrus posted five goals and one assist to lead Susquehanna.

The Rangers continue their season on Wednesday, when they visit Elizabethtown College in a Landmark Conference affair starting at 6 p.m.
