MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University women's tennis team won the doubles point, then won at the bottom three spots in the lineup in singles to come away with a 4-3 Landmark Conference victory over Juniata College Saturday on Senior Day at the Drew Tennis Complex.
The Rangers (8-8, 4-2 LC) recognized its lone senior,
Natalia Zamora, in a brief ceremony before the start of the match.
In doubles play, Drew won at the second and third positions to assume a 1-0 lead. Sophomore
Nicole Kalorin and junior
Riley Roesel won 6-2 at second doubles while juniors
Kapriana Payami and
Danielle Pettoni prevailed by an identical score at No. 3.
In singles, sophomore
Madison Williams captured a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the No. 4 position while Pettoni registered a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5. Freshman
Natalia Melendez Sanchez added a 6-3, 6-1 triumph at No. 6.
The Rangers return to action on Wednesday, when they host Wilkes University at 4 p.m. in a Landmark Conference affair.
