Moravian Snaps Men’s Tennis’ Winning Streak

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Drew University men's tennis team saw its six-match winning streak come to an end with a 5-2 loss at Moravian University on Thursday.

In a battle of two undefeated Landmark Conference squads, the Greyhounds (9-5, 5-0 LC) opened the match by winning the doubles point, then won four of the six singles matches.

In doubles play, junior Daniel Arcari and senior Jesse Faro cruised to a 6-0 victory at the No. 1, and they pushed their season record to 5-1 versus Landmark Conference opponents. But Moravian won at second and third doubles to assume a 1-0 match lead.

Faro and Arcari added victories the top two singles slots for the Rangers (9-6, 5-1 LC). Faro won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1, improving to 5-1 in conference play, while Arcari pushed his Landmark record to 6-0 with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 2.

Junior Nicolas Mobayed came close to a victory in a nailbiter at No. 3 singles, but he was just edged by a final of 7-6 (8-6), 2-6, 1-0 (10-3) for his first conference loss of the season.

The Rangers close out their Landmark Conference schedule this weekend, when they visit Catholic University on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Goucher College on Sunday at noon.
