Women’s Lacrosse Stopped by No. 12 Scranton

MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University women's lacrosse team closed out the regular season with a 21-9 loss to No. 12-ranked University of Scranton in a Landmark Conference affair Wednesday afternoon.
 
Despite the loss, the Rangers (10-6, 5-4 LC) will compete in the Landmark Conference Championship tournament as the No. 5 seed, visiting No. 4 Susquehanna University in a first-round matchup on Saturday.
 
Drew was facing a nationally-ranked opponent for the first time since 2022 since and was taking on its highest-ranked opponent since playing No. 8 Catholic on March 27, 2021.
 
Freshman Regina Williams led the Rangers with five goals while sophomore Kristina Lowe posted three goals, three ground balls, and a pair of caused turnovers. Junior Grace Patane added one goal and two assists, and senior Aubrey Welch collected nine draw controls.
 
Junior Paige Shaw and sophomore Rorrie Sifers split the time in goal. Shaw collected five saves while playing the opening half before Sifers stopped a pair of shots in the second half.
 
The Royals, who scored the first nine goals of the game, were led by Eileen Hewitt, who posted four goals, two assists, and seven draw controls.
 
After Scranton's game-opening run, the Rangers got on the scoreboard when Williams scored her first goal at the 1:11 mark of the first quarter. Williams and Lowe scored one goal each in the second quarter, but Scranton added six more goals in the quarter to go up 15-3 at the half.
 
The Rangers played the Royals even in the second half. Patane and Lowe tallied one goal each in the third quarter before Williams tossed in three straight goals in the fourth quarter. Lowe also struck in the final period, when Drew outscored Scranton 4-3.
