Men’s Tennis Downs Wilkes on Senior Day

MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University men's tennis team won the doubles and five of the six singles points en route to a 6-1 Landmark Conference victory over Wilkes University on Senior Day at the Drew Tennis Complex on Thursday.
 
Prior to the start of the match, Drew recognized its four seniors – Kiran Bhattacharya, Kevin Cronin, Jesse Faro, Shivi Perera, and Devan Sutaria.
 
With the win, the Rangers clinched a home first-round match in next week's Landmark Conference Championship tournament and will host either the University of Scranton or Juniata College on Wednesday.
 
In doubles action, junior Daniel Arcari and Faro captured a 6-2 decision at the No. 1 position, improving to 6-2 in Landmark Conference play this season. Meanwhile, juniors Nicolas Mobayed and Ty Gelijns won by an identical score at No. 2.
 
All four doubles winners also picked up singles victories as well. Faro won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 to push his Landmark Conference record to 6-2. Arcari cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at No. 2, extending his winning streak to nine while remaining undefeated (8-0) versus conference foes this season. Mobayed was a 6-1, 6-4 winner at No. 3 while Gelijns prevailed 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4, as both players moved to 6-2 in the Landmark Conference.
 
Sophomore Pharell Longenbach contributed a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles.
 
Drew closes out the regular season on Saturday, when it visits Goucher College in a Landmark Conference affair.
