Men's Lacrosse Stopped by Elizabethtown in First Round of Landmark Championships

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Drew University men's lacrosse team saw its 2026 season come to a close with a 17-5 loss at Elizabethtown College in the first round of the Landmark Conference Championship tournament on Saturday.

The sixth-seeded Rangers, who were making their third consecutive appearance in the Landmark Championships, close out the season with a 7-9 record.

In his final collegiate outing, senior Sawyer Kennedy made 15 saves and picked up four ground balls for Drew while classmate Theo Krueger added three ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Jay Rodriguez posted six goals and one assist for third-seeded Elizabethtown (9-9), which will now face No. 2 seed Catholic University in the tournament semifinals on Wednesday. Ben Zaitz also made 15 saves for the Blue Jays.

Elizabethtown never trailed after scoring the game's first three goals. But the Rangers answered with back-to-back tallies, as freshman Kullen Mcdermott and sophomore Vincent Rubio struck 1:18 apart to make it 3-2 with 6:32 left in the opening quarter. The Blue Jays responded with a 6-0 run, however, assuming a 9-2 lead with 11:23 remaining in the first half.

Drew came back with another quick two-goal strike, as freshman Yaneik Gallego and senior Colin Diodato converted just over two minutes apart to make it a five-goal game with 8:26 on the clock. The two sides then traded goals, and senior Riley Zeer's tally made it a 10-5 game at the break.

Rodriguez scored the next three goals, including the only two in the third quarter, to put the Blue Jays up by eight with 13:14 left in the contest. The hosts tacked on four additional goals in the fourth quarter to set the final score.
