EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. – The Drew University women's lacrosse team forced 30 turnovers and the Rangers earned an 18-5 Landmark Conference victory at Wilkes University on Wednesday night.
The Rangers (8-4, 3-2 LC) bolted to a 7-1 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 13-2 halftime advantage.
Offensively, nine different players scored a goal, including sophomore
Hayden Scotti, who netted four goals and one assist. Junior
Madi Strong scored three goals while senior
Aubrey Welch posted two goals, two assists, and five draw controls. Junior
Grace Patane also registered two goals and two assists along with four ground balls and three caused turnovers, and sophomore
Kristina Lowe contributed two goals, four ground balls, and three CTs. Freshman
Regina Williams also scored a pair of goals while classmate
Gianna Paz recorded three caused turnovers and two ground balls.
Junior
Paige Shaw started in goal and played six minutes without allowing a goal and stopped one shot. Sophomore
Rorrie Sifers then played 23 minutes. Freshman
Annie Durante played the second half in net.
Drew ran off five unanswered goals to start the game. After Wilkes (8-5, 0-5 LC) scored at the 8:09 mark of the opening period, the Rangers tacked on two more goals to end the quarter.
The Rangers outscored the Colonels 6-1 in the second quarter, which included two goals apiece from Scotti and Strong.
Wilkes netted the first two goals in the second half to make it 13-4 before the Rangers ended the period on a 3-0 run. Drew outscored the Colonels 2-1 in the fourth quarter.
The Rangers are back in action on Saturday, when they host Susquehanna University at noon on Senior Day.
