MADISON, N.J. – Sophomore Bella Fini posted one goal and two assists but Widener University pulled away late to hand the Drew University field hockey team a 7-3 setback in a non-conference tilt Saturday evening in Ranger Stadium.
 
It was a 3-3 game late in the third quarter before the Pride (2-2) scored four unanswered goals to end the game.
 
Widener received four goals and one assist from Karly Bervinchak.
 
The Rangers scored the game's first two goals, starting with a tally from freshman Allison Brady that was set by an assist from Fini with 6:32 left in the first quarter. Just 39 seconds later, Fini converted a feed from sophomore Elizabeth Harbeson to give Drew a 2-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
 
Widener answered with three goals in the second quarter, including two from Bervinchak, to assume a 3-2 lead at the break.
 
The Rangers pulled even with 12:37 remaining in the third quarter when junior Emily Caporrino tipped in a pass from Fini. But the Pride struck twice in the final two and a half minutes of the period, including a go-ahead tally from Bervinchak with 1:14 on the clock.
 
Widener tacked on a pair of insurance goals in the fourth quarter.
 
Both teams took 16 shots for the game. Freshman Vanessa Pennella made a pair of saves for Drew while Emma Korenthal stopped four shots for the Pride.
 
The Rangers return to play on Wednesday, when they host Eastern University in a non-conference tilt starting at 7 p.m.
