DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Junior
Emily Caporrino scored a pair of early goals and the Drew University field hockey team won its fourth game in a row with a 4-2 victory at Delaware Valley University in a non-conference outing Wednesday evening.
Sophomore
Bella Fini added a goal and two assists for the Rangers (4-5), who never trailed after Caporrino scored nearly four minutes into the game with an unassisted tally. Caporrino followed up less than two minutes later, finishing off a pass from Fini.
Fini pushed Drew's lead to 3-0 when she found the back of the cage off an assist from senior
Emma Rider less than a minute into the second quarter.
The Aggies (3-4) scored twice over a three-minute span later in the quarter, but senior
Liriana Seferovic gave the Rangers some breathing room when she converted a dish from Fini with 1:24 left in the first half.
It was a tale of two halves, as neither side scored over the final 30 minutes. After the Rangers outshot Del Val 7-4 in the opening half, the Rangers took the only two shots of the second half.
Freshman
Vanessa Pennella made one save in goal for the Rangers while Gracyn Shutt stopped three shots for the Aggies.
Drew returns to Landmark Conference action on Saturday, when it visits Lycoming College at 1 p.m.
