Big Fourth Quarter Sends Muhlenberg Past Field Hockey

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Drew University field hockey team carried a 1-0 lead into the fourth quarter, but host Muhlenberg College scored three times in the final period to hand the Rangers a 3-1 setback Wednesday evening.
 
After a scoreless first quarter, sophomore Bella Fini struck with just under six minutes left in the opening half and the Rangers carried a 1-0 lead into the intermission.
 
The Mules (2-1) fired off 16 shots in the fourth quarter and pulled even just over three minutes into the stanza. The hosts then struck with what held up as the game-winning goal with 19:35 remaining before tacking on an insurance tally with 10:25 left.
 
Freshman Vanessa Pennella tied her season-high with nine saves for Drew.
 
The Rangers continue their season on Saturday, when they host Widener University at 6 p.m. in another non-conference tilt.
