Why did you choose Drew University?
I choose Drew to receive a well-rounded education and play soccer at a competitive D3 level.
Why did you choose your major and what is your favorite course?
I choose Anthropology as my major because of my Cultural Anthropology professor my freshman semester. He was an outstanding professor who really taught me a great deal and introduced me to what Anthropology is really all about. After this course, I realized that having a major in the social science of Anthropology I would be able to use this in my future career path in the law enforcement field.
What is your most memorable moment as a Ranger?
My most memorable moment would be playing with my brother at Drew. Being able to play with my brother for the last time at a competitive level is a moment I will never forget.
How has being an athlete helped you as a student and in the classroom?
Being an athlete has helped me as a student and in the classroom because it has helped me to focus on my schoolwork and manage my time more wisely. Being an athlete helps me to mentally focus and understand what is expected of me in the classroom, so that I am ready for any assignment that my professors want to throw at me.
What is the most difficult part of your sport?
The most difficult part of my sport is preseason. However, once this is over it is great watching our team get better and grow closer as a family.
Why do you wear your jersey number?
My jersey number coming into Drew was assigned to me as number 12. However, as soon as I could I changed my number to 9. I wear the number 9 because this has always been the number I wanted to wear on my back when stepping onto the field. I have been wearing the number 9 since the 6th grade and I wanted to keep it that way.
What advice do you have for a prospective Drew University student-athlete?
Advice I can give a prospective Drew University student-athlete is that you need to make the most out of your time at Drew University. Realize that your time goes here very fast and that you need to cherish the bonds and friendships that you will make while you are here. Train hard and work even harder in the classroom. Get involved and branch out to other groups and teams within the Drew community.
Why is community service important to your role as a student-athlete at Drew?
Community service is important as a student-athlete at Drew to help show that Drew athletes are not only focused on their sports, but are also concerned with helping others. This shows that athletes like myself realize we are very fortunate for the positions that we are in and that we can give back to our communities.
Name one obstacle or form of adversity you have had to overcome...
I have had to overcome many injuries and even sit out a few games. However, the training staff is so helpful that they do everything in their power to get their athletes back to their healthy status and back on the pitch. Any obstacle I have had to overcome by any injury was cured by both trainers, Chris Ryan and Jennifer Rocket, who are both big parts to what takes part behind the scenes of Drew University Athletics.
