Jason Chornyei, a 2014 Drew University graduate and former Ranger men's basketball player, enters his fifth season on Darryl Keckler's staff in 2020-21.

Chornyei has played a major role in Drew's success over the last four seasons, helping the Rangers go 71-39 while qualifying for both the Landmark Conference and ECAC playoffs in each of the last three seasons. He helped guide the Blue and Green to an incredible campaign in 2018-19 in which the squad set a program record for victories, finishing 23-7 while going 12-2 in conference play, earning the No. 1 seed in the Landmark Conference tournament for the first time in program history. Chornyei also helped coach the Landmark Conference Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year and was part of the Landmark Conference Coaching Staff of the Year. In addition, in 2019-20 he helped the squad to the second winningest-season (21-7) in program history while helping coach the Landmark Conference Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Defensive Player of the Year.

After graduating from Drew, Chornyei received his Master of Science in sport management from Indiana State University. He worked as a graduate assistant for the Sycamores' athletic department, with a focus on facilities and event management.

This is the second time Chornyei returned to an alma mater to coach basketball. Following his final season in Blue & Green, he returned to Cheshire Academy in Rhode Island as an assistant coach for his former high school. He assisted the head coach in all basketball operations, including film study, personalized workouts and recruiting.

Chornyei was a consistent and reliable big man for the Rangers over his three seasons. He played nearly 800 minutes with a .517 field goal percentage and 48 blocks from 2011-14.
