Jason Rieg enters his fourth season serving as an assistant on head coach Tom Leanos' staff. The 2010 Centenary College graduate is the Rangers' offensive coordinator.
Rieg has been a part of two Landmark Conference Coaching Staff of the Year honors, winning the prestigioius award in 2012 and 2014. His coaching responsibilities include planning, preparing and implementing a successful offensive system in training, practices and games. Rieg also coordinated workout sessions and facility management for the lacrosse program.
Additional responsibilites include development of a strength and conditioning program, breaking down film, scouting reports and creating strategic game plans. Rieg has helped Coach Leanos implement a strict focus on student-athletes' attention to classroom responsibilities and academic discipline.
Rieg has been active along the recruiting trails for Drew and has become adept at evaluating, contacting, and committing top academic student-athletes across the country. He has maintained a strong network of relationships with high school and summer club coaches, and has traveled to games, camps, showcases and tournaments throughout the North East and Mid-Atlantic regions.
The assistant coach has also been a Youth Elite Clinic Instructor and High School Elite Coach for Patriot Lacrosse, Inc. in Morristown since 2012. In addition, Rieg serves as an offensive instructor at the Lax Prep Lacrosse Clinic held at Drew University.
Rieg was a two-year captain playing for former Drew assistant Matt Klank at Centenary. The Long Valley, N.J. native graduated as one of the top players in Centenary College lacrosse history. In three seasons, Rieg tallied 100 career goals and recorded 85 career assists. His 185 total points and 85 career assists both rank second all-time in Cyclone history.
His senior season, Rieg was a First Team All-Colonial States Athletic Conference selection and one of 70 Division I, II and III men’s lacrosse players to earn United States Lacrosse Association Intercollegiate Association (USILA) Scholar All-America honors.
Rieg graduated from Centenary with degree in Business Administration and currently resides in Long Valley. After graduation Rieg has spent time as the head lacrosse instructor at Sports Galaxy in Hackettstown, N.J. and as a coach and instructor in Long Valley Lacrosse Organization.
