Matt Poskay enters his second season as an assistant coach for the Men's Lacrosse program. An attackman on Major League Lacrosse's Boston Cannons, an All-American and National Champion at Virginia and the national high school record holder with 362 goals, Poskay is nationally recognized as one of lacrosse's top talents.

An All-American and two-time National Champion at Virginia and the Cavaliers’ record holder for goals by a midfielder, the Clark, N.J. native was selected in the second round of the 2006 Major Lacrosse League draft by the Boston Cannons following his five goal performance in Cavs NCAA title game win over UMass. Last season, Poskay was the MLL's Most Valuable player and was the league's Offensive Player of the Year. In 2010 he led the league with 45 goals and 52 points in just 12 games. He currently is the Cannons' all-time leader in goals (140) and set the franchises single season scoring mark last year. He's a three-time All-Star which includes the 2008 game MVP award. In 2006, his first year in the league he was named MLL Rookie of the Year.

He was a four-time first-team All-State and All-Conference selection at Arthur L. Johnson and three-time conference player of the year. He set the national high school record with 362 goals while leading the state in scoring three times.

He graduated from the University of Virginia’s, McIntrie School of Commerce with honors in 2006. He was a United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Scholar All-American as well as an ACC Honor Roll selection three times.
