Drew men's soccer left it late, but escaped from FDU with its fourth straight win, 1-0, on Monday night.  Another dominant performance for the Ranger defense allowed the Drew offense the time to find the winner as Matthew Greenberg's goal came in the 87^th minute.  David Brigandi made three saves as the Rangers posted their ninth shutout of the season. 

Drew dominated possession and chances in the match, but despite their 24 shots could only find the back of the net once.  FDU's keeper Kevin Herbert had an especially effective first half as he made six saves to keep the game scoreless heading into the break.  At the other end, Brigandi had made a pair of saves to keep the Devils at bay.  The Rangers outshot their hosts 10-4 in the first half. 

The second half was even more heavily in the Rangers' favor.  With 14 shots to FDU's one, the Rangers were clearly the better team, but could not get past Herbert as the final line of defense.  Luckily, Drew boasts one of the best back lines in the NCAA, ranked fifth in last week's ratings, so the offense was given the time to find the winner.

It came in the 87^th minute as Matthew Greenberg scored the winner.  So often involved in Drew goals, Greenberg got the long overdue first of his career with just over three minutes left.  From a scrum in the box, Greenberg flicked a Messi-esque shot with the outside of his right boot up and around the FDU keeper.

The win brought Drew to 5-2-4 on the season and marked the Rangers' ninth shutout of the season.  Just three goals allowed more than 1080 minutes played gives them an 0.25 goals against average for the season. 

Drew continues to take on Jersey rivals on Wednesday as it travels to Ramapo for an afternoon match.
