Balanced Attack Scores Four on Gophers

Box Score
TOWSON, Md. (October 2, 2010) - Goals from four different players helped the Rangers cruise past Goucher, 4-0 this afternoon. The Rangers helped complete the fall sweep of the Gophers and improve to 2-0 in the Landmark Conference.

Drew (9-1, 2-0 Landmark) did most of their damage in the second half of play but managed to strike first when Kevin Walpole (Newark, Del./Sanford School) headed in his fourth goal in two games at the 9:36 mark. Matthew Greenberg (Franklin Lakes, N.J./Indian Hills) took the Drew corner and found Walpole on the back post for one of his two assists on the day.

The Rangers would put together three more goals before the final horn to put the game out of reach. Greenberg, the team's leader in assists, scored his second goal of the season when he took a pass that  Phil Mabika (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) left for him inside the 18 for the second goal.

Drew would tally more goals on the Goucher (4-8, 0-2 Landmark) defense late in the contest, both in less than a minute. After picking up his first point of his career on Wednesday, freshman defender RJ Voorman (Wycoff, N.J/Ramapo) scored his first goal of his career when he one-timed a corner kick from Greenberg that hit the bottom of the crossbar and went in.

Just :55 seconds later, Ian Elfers (Oakland, N.J./Indian Hills) picked up a loose ball and shot it from the right wing to make the score 4-0. The goal was also Elfer's first of his collegiate career.

Senior Jeff Rogers (Eldenburg, Md./Century) recorded his second shutout of the season and made two saves on the afternoon.

The Rangers will return to action on Wednesday night when they battle Ramapo at 7:00.
