Catholic's Late Regulation Goal Forces Tie

Box Score
MADISON, N.J. (October 23, 2010) - The Rangers looked as if they were going to pull out their sixth conference win of the season until Catholic had a bouncing cross find the back of the net with 2:07 left in regulation to force overtime and the eventual, 1-1 tie.

Drew (12-1-3, 5-0-1Landmark) recorded its only goal of the day very early in the first half. Senior Adrian Kawuba (Watertown, Mass./Lexington Christian Academy) got the rebound of his own shot and drilled it into the right side of the net just 3:25 into the game.

The game would not see another goal for nearly 85 minutes until Catholic (8-5-3, 2-1-3 Landmark) was able to get a goal on the odd sequence in the 87th minute. Nick Sylvester, of the Cardinals, seemed to be crossing the ball when it was deflected and then bounced over the top of the goalkeeper's head.

The Cardinals and Rangers would combine for seven shots in the two overtime periods but neither team could convert. All of Drew's shots came in the second overtime while all Catholic's shots occured in the first overtime.

The Rangers wound up holding the advantage in shots 17-12 and also had four more corners than the Cardinals. Goalkeeper Jeff Rogers (Eldensburg, Md./Century) made three saves on the afternoon while facing 12 shots.

The Rangers final Landmark Conference game against Susquehanna will most likely determine who the top seed in the conference tournament is. Before today's matchup the Crusaders sat in second place at 4-0-1.

Drew will travel to Selinsgrove next Saturday for the regular season finale. Game time is set for 3:30.
