Rangers Fall to Scarlet Raptors in ECAC Championship

MADISON, N.J. (November 14, 2010) - Making their second appearance in the past two years, the defending ECAC Champion Rangers fell to Rutgers-Camden (13-8-1), 2-1 this afternoon. This was the first meeting between the two teams since 2007 when they met in the ECAC Championship
With the exception of the Scarlet Raptor's goal in the first 20 minutes, the first half was a relatively even match up. The Rangers outshot Rutgers-Camden six to five and took one more corner kick. Not able to find the back of the net, Drew (14-4-3) went into the half down by one.
The second half was much the same with the Rangers taking another six shots, landing three on goal. In the 81st minute, a one-on-one in the box gave the Scarlet Raptors the last goal they would need. Not ready to go quietly the Rangers struck back three minutes later with a double assisted goal. In his final game of his career, Captain
Matthew Greenberg (Franklin Lakes, N.J. / Indian Hills) sent the ball sailing from outside the eighteen to the head of
Matthew Gragnano's (Hazlet, N.J. / Christian Brothers Academy).
Jesse Puzio (Pequannock, N.J. / Pequannock Township) breaking for the goal was there to catch Grangnano's header on his foot and chip it past the goaltender. Cutting the margin down to one, the Rangers were unable to convert in the last five minutes.
Greenberg collects his 12th assist of the season and the 20th of his career. The Landmark Offensive Player of the Year makes his mark in the Drew record books at 4th and 6th respectively.

Jeff Rogers (Eldersburg, Md. / Century) had four saves on the contest landing himself a spot in the all-time records aswell. With 66 saves this season and 243 in his career, Roger's joins the top ten lists for career and season.
After this game, the Rangers ECAC all-time record is 22-11-2.
