Cardinals Pull Away in Final Events to Beat Rangers

MADISON, N.J. (November 20, 2010) - In the Rangers' first Landmark Conference meet the Rangers were unable to keep pace with Catholic this afternoon as they fell 159-96 at the F.M. Kirby Pool. Drew (1-3) had five first place finishes on the day.
The Rangers started the day off with a win in the 200 Yard Medley Relay turning in a time of 2:00.97, the fastest time of the season. The quartet of
Jess Harrington (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield), Alexa Morrissey (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall Academy), Kati Eggert (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls, and
Mariel Schwinger (Los Angeles, Calif./Sherman Oaks) won the meet's first event for the second-consecutive day.
Drew would enjoy success once again in the freestyle. Schwinger led the Rangers off with a win in the 200 Free by nearly five seconds. Her time of 2:03.23 was the fastest by a Drew swimmer this season and clips her personal best by a few hundredths of a second. It was then Eggert's turn as she took home first place in the 50 Free with a time of 26.54.
Schwinger would get her third first of the day later on in the meet when was able to win the 200 Yard Backstroke with a time of 2:20.05.Finishing in second was Harrington, with a time of 2:23.81. Harrington would claim her second top finish of the day in one of the closest races of the day, the 100 Backstroke. She was able to out-touch Catholic's Kristen Gunn and win with a time of 1:05.84, just a tenth of a second faster Gunn.
Freshman
Jordan Bader (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) rounded off a nice performance by the women with a win in the 200 Butterfly. Her time of 2:24.81 is tops among any Ranger this season.
The Rangers will begin to prepare for a tri-meet with neighbors FDU & St. Elizabeth's on December 4 & 5.
