McGrath's Walk-off Single Seals Game Two Win

MADISON, N.J. (April 10, 2010) - The Rangers and Crusaders split the twin bill this afternoon, but it will be Drew who will be carrying the momentum into tomorrow's series finale. After the Rangers squandered a three-run lead in the top of the seventh in game two, a walk-off single by Matt McGrath (Rutherford, N.J./Rutherford) gave Drew a 6-5 win in eight innings.

McGrath, hitless on the day before stepping in with the bases loaded, drove 1-0 fastball into left center field to seal the Rangers' third Landmark Conference victory of the season. Michael Bodden (Toms River, N.J./Toms River/Monsignor Donovan), who was 4-for-7 on the day, scored the game-winning run after reaching on a lead-off double in the bottom of the eighth.

Susquehanna (11-13, 4-4 Landmark)  had tremendous success in the seventh inning of both games. They erased a three-run lead in the top of the seventh in game two and had the first seven batter who came to bat, score en route to a 16-4 blowout victory in game one.

Tom Murray (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial) was 3-for-4 on the a with three runs scored in both games combined. Murray was also plunked three times today by Crusader pitching, bringing his season total up to 20.

Drew (5-19, 3-8 Landmark) got a solid pitching effort from game two starter Tom Clark (Ridgewood, N.J. Ridgewood). He did not end up factoring in the decision but went seven innings and struck out nine Susquehanna batters.

Drew looks to take the series tomorrow when they square off for the final game of the three-game set at 12:00 on Doc Young Field.
