Rangers Tripped up by Lions

Rangers Tripped Up by Lions

READING, Pa. (April 20, 2010) Albright starter Corey Lawrence kept the Ranger bats quiet for the majority of the afternoon as he went seven innings, giving up only three hits in a 7-1 victory. Michael Bodden Toms River, N.J./Monsignor Donovan) was the only bright spot as he went 2-for-4 at the plate.

Albright (8-22) got to Ranger starter Ben Lynch (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) in their first turn at bat. The Lions got both of their first inning runs off one hit. After the lead-off man singled, Lynch walked the next two batters to load the bases. Lynch induced two-straight ground balls but both would be enough to score runners from third and make the score 2-0.

Lynch would settle in and keep the Lions scoreless for the next three innings. In his last inning of work, the Lions strung together four hits and put up a four spot to make the score 6-0. Albright's Justin Danser had a one-out single up the middle to score two runs. Danser, the three-hitter, finished the day going 3-for-4 and scored a run.

Drew (7-25) could not solve Lawrence in his seven innings of work but would attempt to do damage against the Lions' bullpen. In the top of the ninth inning Tom Sharp (Toms River N.J./Toms River East) picked up his first hit of the day to lead off the inning and Bodden singled two batters later. With runners on first and second with one out the Rangers managed to push only one run across when Matt McGrath (Rutherford, N.J./Rutherford) chopped a ball to second that was mishandled by the second baseman allowing Sharp to come around from second for the only Rangers' run of the contest.

Bodden continues to put together an impressive freshman campaign and is now batting .361 on the season. He has reached base safely in all but one game this season.

The Rangers are back in action tomorrow when they play their final home game against the City College of New York. First pitch is set for 3:30 on Doc Young Field.
