Rangers Comeback Falls a Goal Short

Rangers Comeback Falls a Goal Short

Box Score
MADISON, N.J. (September 29, 2010) - The Rangers offense put together two second-half goals but they were not enough to get by the #23 Stevens Ducks this evening at Ranger Stadium.

Stevens (9-1) owned the first half of play scoring two goals and holding the Rangers to no shots on goal. The Ducks got on the board just six minutes into the contest with the first of their two goals off corner kicks. The Rangers would surrender one more goal before halftime and trail by two scores at the intermission.

Drew (5-4) would step up their offense in the second frame by outshooting the Ducks 12-8. The Rangers converted on the second shot of the game after they were awarded a corner kick. Freshman Caroline Kuras (Allamuchy, N.J./Pope John XXIII) took the corner and placed it right on the head of Courtney Carnevale (Princeton Junction N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro North) who put it into the right side of the net.

The Ducks would answer with their final of the goal of the game in the 61st minute when Katria Misilo was waiting on the back post on another Stevens corner. The Ducks held a 5-4 advantage on corner kicks on the evening.

After scoring just three minutes into the half, the Rangers were held scoreless until the 82nd minute when Emily Weida (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Country Day) came up with a loose ball in front of the net and slipped a ball underneath the jumping goalkeeper to pull the Rangers within a goal.

The Rangers would get their best chance at knotting up the game under a minute later when Liz Loiodice (Forest Hill, Md. / John Carroll) took a shot that was turned away.

The Rangers will travel to Towson, Md. on Saturday to take on the Gophers of Goucher College in the second Landmark Conference game of the season. Game time is set for 1:00 at Beldon Field.
