MADISON, N.J. – Brendan Michael C'11 has resigned as the women's soccer head coach at Drew University for personal reasons, Director of Athletics
Christa Racine has announced.
Michael led the Rangers during the 2024 and 2025 seasons, directing the squad to a pair of Landmark Conference Championship tournament appearances and an overall record of 15-16-7, including a 7-8-3 mark in Landmark Conference play.
A search for Michael's replacement will begin immediately.
"I would like to thank Brendan for his tireless commitment to our women's soccer program over the last two seasons," said Racine. "His teams excelled on and off the field throughout his tenure as head coach, and we wish him the best in his future endeavors."
"Coaching the women's soccer program at my alma mater has been a true honor," said Michael. "The support of an outstanding athletics administration, dedicated staff, and a strong campus community made our shared achievements possible. Above all, I am grateful for the opportunity to work with exceptional student-athletes whose commitment, resilience, and character made this experience truly special. I have no doubt this program will continue to do great things in the years ahead."
During his first season at the helm in 2024, Michael helped the Rangers to a record of 9-7-4 and a 4-3-2 showing in the Landmark Conference. The team earned the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament, where it captured a 2-1 victory over Catholic in the first round to earn a berth in the conference semifinals. He coached two players – forward Alexa Krause C'25 and midfielder
Rebecca Racine C'25 – to First Team All-Landmark Conference honors, and the pair also captured a spot on the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III All-Region V Team, with Krause earning first-team honors and Racine garnering second-team status.
This past season, Michael guided a young squad that included 12 newcomers to a 6-9-3 overall record and a 3-5-1 ledger in the Landmark Conference. The team battled injuries to numerous players throughout the season but clinched another Landmark Conference postseason appearance. One of his players – midfielder
Kristina Lowe C'28 – was recognized with a spot on the All-Landmark Conference Second Team.
Off the field, 15 of Michael's players gained a spot on the 2024 Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll. In addition, the Rangers received seven College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors during his tenure.
