Rangers Set School Scoring Mark in Blowout Win

Box Score
MADISON, N.J. (January 3, 2011) - A total of six players were in double figures as the Drew offense eclipsed the century mark for the first time in school history in a 101-58 victory over The College of St. Elizabeth. The previous record of 98 was set back in 2001 against Merchant Marine.

The balanced scoring attack was highlighted by Dana Coronato (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) who scored 25 points and pulled down six rebounds. Coronato has now eclipsed the 20 point mark three times this season.

Danielle Barber (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Twp.), who ranks second in the Landmark Conference in scoring, chipped in 12 points and nearly got her first double-double of the year with nine assists.  Whitney Mackay (Suffield, Conn./Berkshire), and Jen Mateo (Union City, N.J./Union City) both put together career-highs in points. Mateo, who has now been in double figures three of the last four games, had 14 points while Mackay added 15.

After Drew (7-3) captured their first lead of the night with 15:30 left in the first, they would not give it up for the remaining 35 minutes of the game. The Rangers were able to out-rebound the Eagles 50-40 and committed 11 less turnovers in the game.

The Rangers will open up Landmark Conference play on Saturday beginning with a bout against Scranton. The women will be the second game of the doubleheader starting at 4:00.
