Monarchs Best Rangers in Opener

WILKES-BARRE, Pa.. (October 28, 2011) – The Drew women's swim team opened up their 2011-12 campaign with a 101-87 loss at the hands of Kings College (1-0) earlier this evening.  Sophomore Mariel Schwinger (Los Angeles Calif./Sherman Oaks) won two individual races for Head Coach Eric Scheingoltz's squad.

Schwinger was  a high point for Drew (0-1) as she took first in both the 500 freestyle and the 1000 freestyle. She finished the 500 with a time of 5:35.77 and turned in a time of  11:29.04 in the 1000. Classmate Alexa Morrissey (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall Academy) was the only other Ranger to place first in an individual event. The sophomore turned in a time of 58.22 in the 100 freestyle eclipsing her personal best by .02

The Rangers will be back in the pool in their home opener on Saturday when they welcome Ramapo to the F.M. Kirby Pool. First event is set to start at 2:00 p.m.
