WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (October 28, 2011) – The Drew men's swim team (1-0) won their first season opener since the 2006-07 season with a 91-89 victory over King's College this evening. Sophomore
Michael Ng (Scarsdale, N.Y./Edgemont) won two individual events and a relay to pace the Rangers.
Ng began his day with his dual meet best time of 23.94 in the 50 freestyle giving the Rangers a first place finish. He turned around and took home the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:03.62 to tack on nine more points for the Rangers.
Sophomore
Thomas DiGuglielmo (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) notched three wins with individual victories in the 100 breaststroke and the 200 individual medley. His 100 breaststroke time was a second off his dual meet best. Freshman
Clayton Curran (Middletown, Conn./Middletown) won his first race in his Ranger debut in the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.16, the fastest of any flyer last season.
The foursome of Curran, DiGuglielmo,
Austin Goetjen (Simsbury, Conn./Avon Old Farms School) and Ng combined to get two wins in the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay. The medley time was two seconds faster than the fastest dual meet time of all of last year.
The Rangers return home on Saturday when they welcome in Ramapo at 2:00 p.m. in F.M. Kirby Pool.
