Meet Results
WASHINGTON, D.C. (November 19, 2011) – In their first ever dual meet against conference foe Catholic, both the men and women's swim teams fell to the Cardinals this afternoon in the DuFour Center. The Cardinals defeated the men 127-106 as the women fell 122-93.
The Rangers came away with three individual event wins, two coming from sophomore Alexa Morrissey (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fontebonne Hall Academy). She began with a victory in the 50 freestyle, turning in a time of 27.03. Also Entered in 100 freestyle, Morrissey collected her second win of the afternoon touching the wall with a time of 59.61.
Classmate Mariel Schwinger (Los Angeles, Calif./Sherman Oaks) earned the only other Ranger win in the 200 freestyle, posting her season best time of 2:03.27. Schwinger, Morrissey, Jessica Harrington (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) and Jordan Bader (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) closed off the meet with the team's top 200 medley relay time. The quartet posted a time 1:49.56 good for a third place finish.
Sophomore Jackie King (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) continued her streak of personal bests. In the 100 freestyle she turned in a career best 1:02.15.
The Ranger men also saw improvement in their final event of the day. In the 200 freestyle relay
Clayton Curran (Middletown, Conn./Middletown),
Michael Ng (Scarsdale, N.Y./Edgemont), Matthew Boudreau (Stockbridge, Mass./Monument Mountain Regional) and
Austin Goetjen (Simsbury, Conn./Avon Old Farms School) posted a season top time of 1:38.09.
Curran and Boudreau shaved time off two individual events earlier in the meet. Curran had a season best time of 57.62 in the 100 butterfly and Boudreau improved his time in the 200 freestyle finishing with a time of 2:11.72.
The Rangers will return home next week for the second annual Ranger invitational. Fairleigh Dickinson, Sarah Lawrence College and Post will all converge on Madison for a three day event beginning on Friday morning at 9:00 a.m.
