MADISON, N.J. (April 22, 2011) – First-place Susquehanna (25-5, 8-0 Landmark) topped Drew (13-16, 4-6 Landmark) in both games of their Landmark doubleheader, 10-0 and 8-0 this afternoon. The Crusaders got strong pitching efforts by Cara Swerdlow and Sarah Hoffmann, who gave up a combined six hits on the day.

The Crusaders, who came into today's game as the conference's second-best hitting team, racked up 17 hits off Drew starting pitcher Adriana Durso (Old Tappan, N.J./No. Valley Old Tappan). The Crusader 3-through-5 hitters went a combined 8-for-10 with six runs scored and seven RBI.

Swerdlow earned her 11th win of the spring by tossing a two-hit shutout. She struck out eight batters and only walked one in five innings of work.

In the nightcap, Hoffman held the Rangers to just four hits and struck out two for her tenth win of the year. After two scoreless innings to start the game, the Crusaders scored in each of their final four turns to the plate. Their biggest inning came in the top of the fourth when they were able to push four runs across courtesy of a pair of home runs by Shelly Landis and Kathryn Gilbert.

Of the six hits by the Rangers, lead-off batter Kati Eggert (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) had two of them, going a combined 2-for-6 on the day.

The Rangers will play their final regular season home game on Tuesday and will honor their four seniors in between games. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 in Madison.
