Box Score Blue Jays Hand Rangers First Loss
MADISON, N.J. (September 21, 2011) – Men's soccer was on the opposite side of a shutout for the first time in five games after falling to Elizabethtown (5-1) this evening, 1-0 at Ranger Stadium. Drew (6-1) was scored on for the first time since the season opener on Sept. 3.
The game's lone goal came in the 33rd minute off the left foot of Erik Weber. The senior carried the ball from the right midfield and struck the ball just outside the 18 past a diving Michael Reyes (Delran, N.J./Delran). The freshman netminder made four stops in his second career start.
The Rangers held a 13-8 shot advantage and had multiple opportunities denied by Blue Jay keeper Eric Carr who made four saves on the night. Tonight's game had regional implications with the Rangers entering as the #4 team in the Mid-Atlantic region while the Blue Jays anchored the nine slot.
Drew will look to bounce back this weekend when they open their Landmark Conference schedule and welcome Susquehanna on Saturday afternoon. Game time is slated for 1:00 p.m. and will be followed by women's soccer at 3:30 p.m.
