MADISON, N.J. (January 27, 2012) – Both the men's and women's swimming teams pulled out victories in today's dual meet with Mount St. Vincent. The men compiled four lifetime best swims in a 112-51 win, while the women improved to 3-6 with a 99-62 victory at F.M. Kirby Pool.
Freshman
Clayton Curran (Middletown, Conn./Middletown) came out of the meet with three of the best swims of his young Ranger career. In the 100 freestyle he took home first place with a time of 50.54 and also touched first in the 50 freestyle with his best time of the year, 23.45. He closed out his meet and was credited with a first place finish in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:09.93
Sophomore
Austin Goetjen (Simsbury, Conn./Avon Old Farms School) turned in a pair of first place finishes in the 200 individual medley and the 500 freestyle. His time of 5:29.20 in the 500 free was a lifetime best while his 200 IM time was his fastest of the season.
On the women's side, sophomore
Alexa Morrissey (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall Academy) highlighted a number of first place finishes with a win in the 200 freestyle. Her time of 2:07.56 was the fastest swim of her career.
Ying Furey King (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) gave the Rangers nine points with a win in the 100 free and a lifetime best time of 1:13.03. Freshman
Kelsey Shannon (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown) was also a first time winner, touching first in the 50 freestyle, shaving nearly four seconds off her best time of the season.
